STOTT PILATES®
STOTT PILATES® offers a contemporary interpretation of the original exercise method developed by Joseph Pilates. Over the course of three decades, co-founders Lindsay G. Merrithew and Moira Merrithew, alongside a team of physical therapists, sports medicine professionals, and fitness experts, have refined the STOTT PILATES® approach. This refinement process involved incorporating modern exercise science principles, fascial fitness, and spinal rehabilitation, resulting in a method that is both highly safe and effective. The comprehensive and detailed nature of this approach serves as the foundation for STOTT PILATES® training and Certification programs. STOTT PILATES® is utilized by a wide range of individuals, including those in rehabilitation, post-rehabilitation, prenatal care, athletes, celebrities, and individuals from all walks of life.
STOTT PILATES® exercises are designed to help people of all genders and ages enhance their strength, flexibility, endurance, and posture, without adding bulk or placing excessive stress on joints. Whether as a complementary practice to cardiovascular exercise, athletic training, or rehabilitation, STOTT PILATES® can assist in toning the body, rejuvenating the mind, and improving the overall ease of movement.
MAP MOVEMENT®
The existing model of movement and training is based on the theory of muscle isolation, which leads to static and rigid muscle and movement. However, with our current understanding, we recognise that movement occurs in fascial planes. As a result, it becomes necessary to re-educate movement patterns and redefine the core.
MAP Movement® bridges the gap between our current understanding of movement and our desired movement capabilities. It encourages us to transition from a defensive stance to a position of power, allowing us to move in alignment with nature’s intentions. The focus lies on movement itself, rather than manual therapy techniques. We concentrate on generating movement along various fascial lines, incorporating breathing techniques, and understanding the interconnections between them all.
